Demystifying Dyslexia for Primary School Teachers 

Donald Ewing, Head of Psychological and Educational Services from the Dyslexia Association of Ireland will be outlining best practice for identifying and supporting children with dyslexia in primary schools. The talk will focus on practical approaches for teachers and will include discussion of how technology can be used to support these pupils. 

There will also be an overview of current issues and controversies and ample opportunity to ask questions.

Literacy Association of Ireland Spring Seminar:

Encouraging active and purposeful literacy in primary classrooms

This workshop will cover a number of key areas including :

  • an overview of balanced literacy development
  • diagnostic classrooms and the importance of classroom culture
  • links to the new Primary Language Curriculum
  • the transformative influence of the digital age
  • practical ideas for teachers to support critical literacy development in classrooms
